City of Centralia Washington Carnegie Library

Carnegie library is located in Washington Park and was first built in 1913 followed by a remodel in 1977-78. The building houses a huge chandelier originally located in the old Centralia High School. The library is now a part of the Timberland Regional Library system. In December the annual Christmas Tree lighting is held there.

The market is held Fridays, May thru September and has been in existence since 1996. At the market you will find a variety of things including flowers, plants, produce, handcrafted items, bakery goods and more.

City of Centralia Washington Park System

City of Centralia Washington parks consists of a variety of 15 beautiful parks, trails, and recreational and outdoor areas of interest with a combined space of 240 acres. The largest of these is the Fort Borst Park which contains over one hundred acres. Along with historic landmarks such as the Borst Mansion, it has Borst Lake.

City of Centralia Washington Union Depot

Union Depot was constructed in the early twentieth century. Built with red brick, it has beautiful indoor and outdoor wookwork and old oak benches. A restoration, which began in 1996, was completed in 2002. The depot is currently served by Amtrak as the midpoint between Kelso, Washington and Lacey, Washington. The depot is also served by connections to the Twin Transit Transportation system and is located within walking distance to Carnegie Library, Historic Fox Theater, McMenamin’s Olympic Club Hotel & Theater, Santa Lucia Coffee Company as well as various eateries, shops, and antique vendors.

City of Centralia Washington Country Cousin

Containing a country restaurant, lounge, and gift shop, the City of Centralia Washington Country Cousin has been a long standing landmark. The sound of a crowing rooster greets customers as they walk through the front door. Throughout the restaurant the country theme continues with farm implements, antique kitchen utensils, and folk art paintings displayed on walls and hanging throughout. Each booth includes various pages from farmers almanac, newspaper clippings, vintage photographs and other local history saved on the tabletops. The restaurant also features unique food such as sour cream blackberry pie, and yak meat.

City of Centralia Washington Fox Theater

In early September, 1930, the Fox Theater opened. It has three levels and approximately 1200 seats.. In 1982, the main stage was broken up into three screening areas. In 2007, the City of Centralia Washington bought the theater and Historic Fox Theatre Restorations commenced restoration work. In 2009, the theater opened for limited film performances.

City of Centralia Washington McMenamin’s Olympic Club Hotel & Theater

Originally opened in 1908, McMenamins went through remodelling in 1913. Since then the structure has stayed the same. The McMenamin’s Olympic Club Hotel & Theater, as it is now called, features 27 European-style guestrooms. Each room is named after a person of interest, including Roy Gardner a trainer robber caught behind the hotel in 1921. After originally being a men’s only club, it has been family oriented for many years. The theater shows second run films, musical and comedy performances, and some televised sports events. Couches and chairs have replaced the original theater seating. Next to the bar and dining area, you will find a room containing six pool tables, and a snooker table. During April or May, local, guest, and imported beers are featured at the annual Olympic Club Brewfest.

The historic district of the City of Centralia Washington features a number of murals. Featured murals depict various parts of history including the 1919 Armistice Day Centralia Massacre, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and the founder of the City of Centralia WA, George Washington.
